"Went on the East Coast tour on Sept 17 and had a ball of a time - Jose(guide) & Leo(driver) made for a great team. It was fantastic to see the country side and will have the memories with us for ever.
People in DR are so full of life and although just home two days we miss the place already...
Buy all the souvenirs you can get your hand on as 45% of the price goes to supporting the local community which alone makes the tour worthwhile - with the added bonus of Jose's humour and knowledge of the country and Leo's excellent "champagne"... Keep up the good work guys."

"Not sure if we went on the East or North Coast adventure. (it was all day & we traveled the montain).
I was a litle skeptical at first because of the bumpy ride. However, I am so glad wwe did this, it was awesome & I wouldn't trade the experience or memory for anything!!!!!!!!!!! Alex & Candido were our guides, what characters and what fun. So knowlegable!
How ironic, my friend was there in Dec. and my daughter & son-in-law 2 years ago, both parties had Alex as their tour guide and remembreed him because of his awesome personality and his baseball days.
Candido was an awesome driver, after all, he got us to & from our destinations in one piece. Georgeous country and I look forward to coming back with our entire family next year.

Take Care & God Bless.
Thanks again!!!

"We took the Outback Safari trip on April 1, 2008. It was absolutely the best adventure of our whole trip. Our guide, Jose and driver Leonardo were wonderful. We learned so much about the country and had the best time. I would strongly reccommend this trip to anyone visiting Punta Cana. You will be very lucky if you get Jose and Leonardo as your guides. I have not had such a good time in many years. The lunch was great and we look forward to returning the Puta Cana and doing the Outback Safari again. Not to be missed!!!!!!!

Helping the Community:

Here at Outback Safari we understand the importance of helping those less fortunate than ourselves.

Since the conception of the company back in 1997 it was agreed by the founders that supporting the community should be one of our key objectives.

To follow is an outline of the type of projects we have been able to support to date:

  • School supplies, pens, paper, sports equipment, uniforms.
  • Financial support for foreign medical teams  and local charitable organisations Island Impact; http://www.islandimpact.net: Dream Project; http://www.dominicandream.org: Cure International; http://www.cureinternational.com
  • Sports facilities, basketball courts, football kits, baseball kits for the local communities.
  • Annual Christmas Santa Runs Please see our Santa Run video posted on this site
  • Installation of toilets and bathroom facilities in local schools and homes
  • Financial support for  urgent medical cases requiring immediate medical assistance
  • Educational support Haitian Redemption Village
  • Community road reparation
  • Donation of music and audio equipment (the next Carlos Santana might be literally right around the corner!)
  • School sponsorships
  • Sponsorship of local orphanages
  • Post hurricane relief donations
  • Orphanage field trips

As part of a new initiative we have published a spreadsheet to show ongoing donations so that you are able to keep track of our community work - thanks to your invaluable help and support.

Sustainable Tourism:

As you will be aware by now, Outback Safari is a responsible company. Our company was formed to show travellers and tourists just how beautiful this country is, not least to give us the opportunity to introduce you to the wonderful people of this tropical paradise.

Without doubt Dominican Republic is the friendliest island in the Caribbean.

With this in mind, we believe that it is our duty to put back, it's the right thing to do, simple as that. Sustainable tourism is responsible tourism and basically is an initiative that allows other cottage and countryside industries to survive and benefit in conjunction with an excursion company such as ours.

When you join us on safari, you will be given the opportunity to buy local products that have been either made or grown and packaged by the people that live in the countryside.

Local products such as coffee, chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, coconut oil, our famous mamajuana, cigars, Haitian paintings and all manner of local hand crafts are readily available.

Of course you reserve the right not to buy anything, however, should you choose to buy something give yourself a pat on the back in the knowledge that you are helping to put back and sustain the local countryside economies that don't always benefit from the direct effects of tourism.

And finally, we would like to say a huge thank you to those of you that have been able to support us to date, we really do appreciate everything that you have been able to help us to do and most importantly to help make this world a better place Thank you!
